Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to lead our projects mechanical engineering team and Engineering Contractor(s) in delivering mechanical engineering scopes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including pressure systems and mechanical equipment, with practical experience in design, specification, procurement, fabrication, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical oversight, review, guidance, and approval of mechanical engineering design contractor deliverables.
  • Develop requirements for mechanical equipment specification in requisitions/datasheets and selection as well as engineering package technical content.
  • Review and recommend technical bid analysis for mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Make technical decisions on requests for exceptions/deviations to specifications or standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in oil and gas/petrochemical/refining/chemical industries.
  • Minimum 5 years proven experience leading Mechanical Engineering work in Major Capital projects.
  • Chartered Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Total years of experience:12+ Years
Desirable Skills and Qualifications

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Excellent knowledge and practical application of mechanical engineering fundamentals related to pressure systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience of operating and maintaining mechanical equipment.
  • Experience in mechanical handing and layouts design.
  • Experience working with remote teams and collaborative approach to delivery.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn from others and work with minimum direction.
About the Role

You will work closely with Projects Engineering Manager, Engineering Contractor(s), Mechanical Engineering Team, Other bp Discipline Engineers, Projects construction, commissioning, and start-up teams, Operations & Maintenance teams, Quality team, and Mechanical equipment suppliers.
