Job Title:

Lead Model Developer

Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Model Developer to support the development and maintenance of Wholesale Risk Models.

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics, with excellent analytical skills and knowledge of Financial Risk Management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support data preparation, model development, validation, and lifecycle management of Wholesale Rating Models.
  • Develop and validate models including Corporate/Wholesale Rating Models for Large Corporate, Mid Corporate, SME, Sovereign, FI, HNWI, Project Finance, and Specialized Lending.
  • Explore new approaches for rating model development for low default portfolios.
  • Calibrate Master Rating Scale (MRS).
Model Monitoring:
  • Determine model performance goals considering accuracy and relevant metrics based on the model purpose.
  • Evaluate expected model performance on historical data.
  • Implement monitoring tools to assess model performance continuously, including input data quality and predictions.
  • Communicate model performance to stakeholders to address potential problems promptly.
  • Regularly review and improve model performance based on feedback, changes in underlying data, and evolving business requirements.
Data Management:
  • Lead end-to-end data lifecycle management for model development, including sourcing, profiling, transformation, and documentation.
  • Identify data requirements for model development.
Requirements:
  • Strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics.
  • At least 4-5 years of banking experience, with 1-2 years in related areas.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of Financial Risk Management.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly R, Python, SAS, Excel, Visual Basic, SQL & Oracle.
  • Postgraduate or professional qualification in risk management or finance, such as CFA, FRM, PRM.
  • Experience leading teams in a multi-jurisdictional and matrixed organization.
  • Understanding and experience of BCBS frameworks and CBUAE regulations relating to model management standards.
