Electrical Engineer for Electric Vehicles

Job Summary:

As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of power electronics systems for electric vehicle applications. This role requires expertise in power conversion technologies, control systems, and embedded programming.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement high-power DC/DC converters for hybrid energy storage systems using MOSFET and IGBT switching devices.
  • Develop and deploy embedded control algorithms on microcontrollers (ARM-based).
  • Conduct schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection for power circuits.
  • Test and debug prototypes, including efficiency measurements and thermal performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate prototype iteration and validation.
  • Maintain detailed engineering logs and documentation for future patent filings and scale-up projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 1-4 years of experience in power electronics.
  • Strong understanding of DC/DC conversion principles, BMS basics, switching device characteristics, and control loop design.
  • Hands-on experience building and testing converters, with a focus on real-world applications.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming for real-time control and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, analyzers, and test setups for high-power systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electric vehicle traction systems, regenerative energy capture, or energy storage converters.
  • Knowledge of switching technologies, such as MOSFET and IGBT.
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation strategies, thermal management techniques, and rapid prototyping methodologies.
  • Prior exposure to start-ups, Formula Student, or resource-constrained R&D projects.
