Job Summary

The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing the Inlet Air Filter and its components. This role requires the application of engineering principles and the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed designs, analyze and test prototypes, and oversee the manufacturing process. The Design Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, production, and quality assurance, to ensure that the design meets functional requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review of enquiry documents, process and mechanical data sheets, and terms and conditions.
  2. Design and development of mechanical systems, sheet metal components, and products according to project requirements and specifications.
  3. Utilization of CAD software to create 2D and 3D models, drawings, and assembly layouts.
  4. Conducting feasibility studies and performing calculations to ensure the technical feasibility and viability of designs.
  5. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize design based on feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  6. Conducting design reviews and participating in problem-solving activities to address design issues and improve product performance.
  7. Performing structural analysis, simulations, and testing to validate and optimize designs.
  8. Creation and maintenance of engineering documentation, including design specifications, bills of materials, fabrication drawings, inspection and test plans, transportation drawings, installation, operation, and maintenance manuals.
  9. Supporting the manufacturing process by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting design-related issues, and assisting in process improvement initiatives.
  10. Collaboration with suppliers and fabricators to select appropriate materials, components, and equipment for the design to comply with product requirements.
  11. Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines throughout the design process.
  12. Participation in design validation activities, including prototyping, testing, and analysis of results.
  13. Management of multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritization of tasks, and meeting project deadlines.

Requirements:

  1. Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.Understanding of general engineering practices, mechanics, and materials.Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.Familiarity with manufacturing processes, particularly sheet metal fabrication and techniques.Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in mechanical engineering.
  1. Design and Engineering Skills:
Ability to conceptualize and create innovative designs to meet specific requirements.Ability to read and understand specifications and design air filters accordingly.Aptitude for problem-solving and critical thinking.Strong analytical skills to assess design feasibility and performance.Structural design and analysis is an added advantage.Proficiency in performing engineering calculations and simulations.Ability to interpret analysis results and make design improvements accordingly.Ability to adapt to new technologies and software tools.
  1. Communication and Collaboration:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas and technical information effectively.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, technicians, and project managers.Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.Capability to present and explain design concepts to clients or stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in mechanical engineering or a related field.5-10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in air filter industries or sheet metal fabrication.Brief knowledge of standards related to air filters.Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, and other design tools.Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in design work.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Required daily to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, and see (specific close vision abilities are required to perform computer work).Required occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.Required regularly to travel (usually by air or road) to support other sites referenced in this description. Travel approximately 10-20%.Required daily to use hands and fingers and arms to reach (to operate a computer and telephone).Required occasionally to lift and/or move objects that are light to moderate.
