Electrical Engineer - Switchgear and Switchboard Design Specialist

Job Summary:

We seek a highly skilled electrical engineer with expertise in switchgear and switchboard design, adhering to UL standards. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical structures, and layout integration.

  • Create detailed designs for enclosures, busbar supports, frames, and layouts for switchgear/switchboards.
  • Develop 2D/3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and BOMs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Standards and Compliance:

  • Ensure designs comply with UL 1558 (Switchgear), UL 891 (Switchboards), UL 508A (Control Panels), and UL 67 (Panelboards).
  • Consider IP/NEMA ratings, CSA, and IEC standards, thermal management, and safety requirements.

Integration and Collaboration:

  • Interpret electrical schematics to ensure proper mechanical/electrical integration.
  • Collaborate with electrical designers to provide fully integrated solutions.

Engineering Considerations:

  • Address thermal management, mechanical strength, structural stability, and vibration.
  • Validate designs for manufacturability, reliability, and compliance.

Independent Work:

  • Lead assigned design tasks independently without step-by-step supervision.
  • Drive design reviews, resolve technical issues, and provide engineering inputs across project phases.
  • Quick learning and fast-grabbing ability to adapt to new challenges quickly.

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in switchgear and switchboard design.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical structures, and layout integration.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
