Development Editor – ACS Omega

Editorial Operations Manager

The ACS International, Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Editorial Operations Manager to oversee the growth and development of several open access ACS journals, including ACS Omega.

This role requires a proactive and dynamic individual to implement publishing strategies and editorial initiatives that sustain and enhance the journals' standing within the global chemistry community.

The selected candidate will work closely with ACS Staff and Editors to support the Editors in strategic commissioning, including market research, competitive analyses, annual target tracking, and detailed project planning and implementation.

Responsibilities include:

• Editorial Initiatives: Support and manage editorial initiatives that increase authorship, engage readership, and drive strategic growth in the journals.
  
  
• Editorial Meetings: Support Editorial and Advisory Board meetings including scheduling, data collection and analysis, presentation, and post-meeting follow up.
  
  
• Editorial Recruitment: Collaborate with ACS Staff and Editors-in-Chief to identify and recruit new Associate Editors and Editorial Advisory Board members for the journals.
  
  
• Marketing Collaboration: Collaborate with Marketing colleagues on email and social media campaigns to promote the journal.
  
  
• Data Analysis: Using established best practices, monitor journal and competitor statistics, prepare data reports for internal and external reporting, under the guidance of ACS Publications staff.
  
  
• Representation: Effectively represent the journals in correspondence and at local outreach events, site visits, strategic scientific conferences, and exhibits to acquire and maintain a deep understanding of the needs and trends within the communities served by the journals and publications portfolio.
  
  

Requirements:

• 
  
• A minimum of a master's degree in chemistry or allied sciences is required. An advanced degree (Ph.D.) is preferred.
  
  
• Excellent written and verbal communications abilities with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  
  
• Fluency in English with good verbal and written communication skills (good use of language, grammar, and syntax).
