Expert Legal Counsel: Corporate Lending Specialist
We seek a seasoned legal expert to provide high-level counsel and support on complex corporate lending matters. This role requires a trusted advisor who can proactively mitigate legal risks, manage external law firms, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Advisory Services: Provide in-depth counsel and support on various legal matters, including complex issues with significant business impact. Offer commercially sensitive, pragmatic, and practical legal advice in a cost-effective manner.
- Risk Management: Collaborate with business departments to identify and address legal risks, including complaint handling and mitigation strategies. Coordinate and manage the approach to legal risk to ensure the company's interests are adequately protected.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Provide prompt and practical legal advice to business stakeholders. Proactively advise on material legal developments and their implications. Manage relationships with panel law firms and other external parties.
- Operational Efficiency: Deliver legal services in a cost-effective manner. Assist the business in remaining compliant with legal risk management requirements and group standards.
- Strategic Thinking: Adapt your work style to meet complex workloads, prioritize based on legal risk and commercial considerations, and stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven ability to provide high-level legal counsel and support on complex corporate lending matters.
- Strong understanding of legal risks and mitigation strategies.
- Experience in managing relationships with external law firms and other third parties.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to maintain professional working relationships and inspire confidence in stakeholders.
- Ability to think independently and balance legal risk with business efficacy.
- A proactive approach to providing legal support and staying updated on legal developments.
- Experience in corporate lending is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
- Law degree (e.g., LLB, JD) from a recognized institution.
- Relevant professional legal certifications.
