Job Title: Laboratory Technician

A collaborative and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician is required to support the smooth functioning of our departments. This role involves overseeing laboratory operations, assisting faculty and students during practical sessions, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, setting up, and maintaining laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials for practical classes and research activities.
  • Providing technical assistance to faculty and students during laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and projects.
  • Ensuring proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, biological samples, reagents, and other materials.
  • Calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining laboratory instruments and software applications as required.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inventory, experiments, and laboratory usage.
  • Implementing laboratory safety protocols and ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines.
  • Supporting departmental research projects and student dissertations.
  • Assisting in the procurement of laboratory supplies and liaising with vendors/service providers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in a relevant discipline (Life Sciences / Forensic Science / Agriculture / Computer Applications) from a recognized institution.
  • Prior experience in laboratory work or technical assistance is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, equipment handling, and maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
