Job Description

This role is part of a high-performing engineering team, requiring a senior member to take the lead in project work, focusing on production and collaboration with international teams. The position involves mentoring and coaching junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create feasibility study reports that meet client requirements, and review them with the relevant team leader.
  • Work closely with international teams to develop design specifications that meet employer requirements, agreeing their format and content, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Agree and monitor project scope with team leaders.
  • Determine building requirements and purposes of use in collaboration with team leaders, enabling detailed design.
  • Develop detailed designs according to client requirements, adhering to standard codes, QA, and technical reviews, and obtain final approval from team leaders.
  • Review and monitor calculation production, including QA, technical reviews, and sign-off.
  • Evaluate information for project costing preparation, completing it in detail and to deadlines, and keep collaborating teams informed about design progress.
  • Coordinate project contracts documents (drawings and specifications) and review input from team members.
  • Lead the design process, encouraging the team to deliver effective solutions within agreed timelines.
  • Fully comply with document control and QA processes relevant to project work, issuing and filing drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence appropriately, and training junior staff in their usage.
  • Manage a team of Engineers and Revit Technicians.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in designing Building Structures, preferably in a similar role or demonstrating a good track record.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in technical structural software such as RAM, CSC, ETABS, SAFE, and STAAD.
  • A solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Fluency in English with an excellent grasp of technical terminology.
  • Demonstrated management, communication, and technical skills, with the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
Qualifications

The candidate should possess:

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Membership to an accredited engineering body.
  • Possession of British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
  • At least 12 years of experience.
