Senior Project Leader

This leadership position is to oversee the successful delivery of projects. The role involves working collaboratively as part of a team to ensure project milestones are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage feasibility study reports to meet client requirements, ensuring timely review and approval by senior management.
• Collaborate with the project team to develop a design specification that meets client needs, agree its format and content, and monitor and review its preparation to ensure delivery on time.
• Agree and monitor scope of works with the client to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Define building requirements and purpose of use in collaboration with the client and project team to facilitate detailed design.
• Carry out detailed design to industry standards, ensuring compliance with regulations, technical reviews, and sign-off by senior management.
• Review and monitor the production of calculations, including quality assurance and technical reviews, for sign-off.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of project costing information, keeping the project team informed regarding design progress through explanation of design decisions.
• Provide documentation to assist in tender preparation, ensuring accuracy and completeness in requisite detail and on time.
• Coordinate project contracts documents (drawings and specifications) and review input from team members.
• Address day-to-day queries from the project team, ensuring relevant information is available on time for construction activity.
• Report any variances between constructed works and design intent to the project team and client.
• Manage commissions from the project team, utilizing applicable project management tools.
• Lead the design process, encouraging the team to deliver effective and cost-efficient solutions within the agreed program.
• Adhere to document control, archiving, CDM, and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately.
• Cultivate technical excellence throughout the teams.
• Implement delivery and quality measurement processes.
• Promote technical excellence across all projects.
• Undertake technical reviews and contribute to concept design.
• Offer continuous feedback to senior management on the effectiveness of protocols and processes, driving continuous improvement.
• Nurture positive professional relationships with the project team, communicating openly about project progress.
• Participate in team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams.
• Identify and address potential risk issues, following company commercial and contracting processes.
• Manage delegated tasks to ensure deadlines are met and flag resourcing concerns to senior management.
• Document additional fees/scope agreed with the client.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in designing Building Structures with significant experience in a similar role or a good track record.
• Excellent presentation skills required.
• Mastery of technical structural software, such as RAM, CSC, ETABS, and SAFE.
• A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
• Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.

Desired Skills:

• Good management, communication, and technical skills, capable of working both within the team and independently, as dictated by workload.

Qualifications:

• British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Membership to an accredited engineering body.
