Job Title: Risk Management Leader

The main purpose of this role is to lead the wholesale risk model development team and assist in executing risk governance and practices around quantitative models.

  • Establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Wholesale Rating Models from scratch.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to best practices in model development and validation.
  • Track regulatory updates and translate them into model design considerations.
  • Independently research and develop innovative solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Presents complex information to Senior Management and Board-level committees.
  • Engages with stakeholders across the credit lifecycle: Limit Management, Collateral Management, RAROC, Customer Rating.
  • Reviews financial spreading logic in newly developed credit lifecycle systems.
  • Supports governance and audit readiness through proper model documentation.

Technical Expertise

  • Designs end-to-end processes for model development, validation, and lifecycle management.
  • Develops and validates corporate/wholesale rating models including Large Corporate, Mid Corporate, SME, Sovereign, FI, HNWI, Project Finance, and Specialized Lending.
  • Explores new approaches for rating model development.
  • Masters Rating Scale (MRS) calibration.

Leadership

  • Buys, mentors, and leads a team of modelers and consultants.
  • Drives capability building and continuous learning within the team.

Climate Analytics

  • Develops statistical climate risk models integrating economic and social data.
  • Develops different climate scenarios based on emission pathways and climate change projections.
  • Develops adaptation strategies to mitigate relevant risks.
  • Monitors climate data and updates climate risk models regulatorily.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and validating Wholesale Rating Models.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as R and Python.
  • Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • 10-15 years of progressive risk management experience in banking.

Desirable Skills:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Risk Management or Finance.
  • Experience of developing teams in multi-jurisdictional organizations.
  • Understanding of BCBS frameworks relating to risk and capital.
