Trade Finance Professional

Job Overview:

This role involves providing advisory services on trade finance to businesses, focusing on risk management strategies to minimize financial risks. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and advising on guarantees and letters of credit, ensuring timely and accurate issuance and amendment of these instruments.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and advise on guarantees and letters of credit, including drafting and negotiating terms and conditions;
  • Manage information within the guarantee database for reporting and controlling purposes, engaging with management, accounting, and other stakeholders;
  • Assist with guarantee charges from banks and surety companies, as well as internal billings;
  • Advise on corporate finance circulars and external rules/regulations, applying knowledge to drafting and negotiating guarantee terms and contract sections;
  • Build and maintain trust-based cooperation and highest level of transparency in dealings with all internal stakeholders, ensuring utmost professionalism and fairness in dealings with external stakeholders;
  • Provide risk advisory services to businesses, including risk mitigation strategies to reduce financial risks;
  • Manage outward guarantees and LCs issuance and inward LCs advising and negotiation, ensuring oversight with reference to inward guarantees;
  • Ensure approvals, monitoring, and reporting for Project Exports under RBI Project Export Memorandum (PEM) guidelines;
  • Provide regular trade finance trainings to businesses to increase risk awareness and drive risk mitigation;
  • Oversee adherence to export and merchanting trade-related FEMA guidelines prescribed by RBI;
  • Liaison with RBI and obtain exception approvals from RBI;
  • Transform the existing trade finance landscape by designing and implementing end-to-end automated, straight-through processing;
  • Foster win-win partnerships with banks and fintech players;

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, ideally supplemented by additional finance-related qualifications;
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in a Corporate Treasury or a Bank with consistent professional accomplishments;
  • In-depth knowledge of trade finance, including ICC guidelines, central bank guidelines, trade finance cum banking practices and processes;
  • Rich experience in RBI liaisoning, handling Project Export Memorandum (PEM) projects, and structuring compliant cross-border current account transactions to support business requirements;
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and understanding of SWIFT for Corporates;
