Product Engineering Role Overview

In the field of Product Engineering, professionals work closely with cross-functional teams to design and develop products that meet customer requirements. This role involves collaborating with various departments, including Design, Systems, and Back-end teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and reliability.

The product engineer typically works on a specific product family or category, ensuring that devices meet specifications and quality targets as defined in data sheets. Additionally, they may be responsible for sustaining support, working with different teams to optimize manufacturing flows, reduce costs, and improve long-term development and profit profiles.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Development work in support of power devices (Buck converter multiphase controller, power stages, Power sequencers, etc.)
  • Collaboration with Design, Applications, Test, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability teams in new product development and production release
  • Design of PCBs to qualify Power products
  • Evaluation, debug, and characterization of integrated circuits to ensure they meet product requirement specifications and manufacturing requirements
  • Failure analysis to determine root causes of reliability and qualification failures
  • Work with process and package technology development to develop and qualify technologies for new product development
  • Collaboration with global manufacturing facilities to address customer-specific product quality, yield management, and cost reductions issues on mature products
  • Qualification of second-source wafer fab, assembly/test facility, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure device continuity of supply
  • Test conversion, test time reduction, and yield improvements to achieve device entitlement operational transfer cost (OTC)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong technical background with high-quality technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of analog and digital circuits operation and analysis
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (curve tracers, return loss analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers)
  • Experience with bench testing of op-amps, ADCs, mixed-signal circuits, and digital circuits
  • Experience with Eagle Test System or mixed-signal ATE
  • Programming skills for automation of bench characterization equipment (LabVIEW/Test stand), C/C++ for ATE
  • Knowledge of statistics and tools for analyzing large amounts of characterization data and determining production test limits and predicting yield data
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with strong communication and problem-solving skills
