The Director of Software Engineering will lead the development of software for imaging scanning devices, working closely with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes on time and within scope.

This role requires a strategic understanding of the business, customer needs, product technology, and GE Healthcare's purpose and values. The leader must ensure consistent project management practices across imaging platform areas and improve them as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish strategy and program plans for different platform teams towards seamless integration across different imaging teams.
  • Collaborate with business and functional partners and technology leadership in specifying requirements.
  • Define execution plan and approach based on project scope, expected timeline, and available resources.
  • Build a strong team of technical program managers, RTEs, and coach for exceptional performance.
  • Work with technical teams to coordinate day-to-day execution as per outlined plan.
  • Support execution teams with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies.
  • Manage project risks, stakeholder communication, and progress reporting.
  • Interfacing with different teams within and outside of imaging.
  • Assist with assessment of external contract, professional service, and solution provider partners.
  • Stewardship of agile and extreme programming practices.
  • Evaluate industry software design, development, and testing standards and practices, challenge the status quo, keeping high standards for quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with minimum 18+ years of software design and development experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • People management experience is mandatory for this position.
  • PMP or PMI-ACP certification is desired.
  • Experience in working with distributed teams and knowledge of multiple Agile Frameworks including SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP or equivalent.
  • Lead a team of program or project managers.
  • Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands, and technical risks/issues.
  • Demonstrated skills in proactively identifying, facilitating, and driving closure of a product/program.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently towards timely completion of a variety of assignments and develop unique concepts/solutions for complex products.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity.
  • Experience in Healthcare domain is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements and practices in software.
  • Enthusiastically follow technology trends, software engineering best practice, and technologies while enjoying the challenge of solving complex problems.
