Electrical Systems Engineer

We are seeking a skilled professional to design and develop electrical systems for power converters. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of closed-loop control for power converters and compensator design.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Define Technical Specifications: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product hardware specifications and requirements, ensuring seamless integration of electrical and mechanical components.
2. Design Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews of electrical designs and firmware controls, focusing on high-level system integration and reliability.
3. Test Planning: Develop test plans to ensure electrical, environmental, and functional compliance during product development, utilizing simulation tools and experimental methods.
4. FMEA Analysis: Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to evaluate reliability and identify potential safety or liability concerns, implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
5. Project Coordination: Coordinate product development milestones with project managers and cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery of projects and meeting customer expectations.
6. Knowledge Updates: Oversee Design for Excellence (DFX) updates, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and product life cycle management, incorporating best practices and lessons learned into future projects.
7. Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers to ensure adherence to established technical standards during product development, promoting knowledge sharing and skills development.
8. Research and Development: Research new development concepts to guide future product innovation, identifying cost-competitive technological alternatives that meet performance and efficiency requirements.
9. Design Validation: Validate design concepts through circuit simulations and prototyping, optimizing system performance and reliability.
10. Documentation: Prepare documentation, including bills of materials, circuit diagrams, simulations, and design-related documents, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of project activities.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8-12 years of experience in power electronics.
• Strong understanding of closed-loop control for power converters and compensator design, with expertise in simulation tools like SIMULINK.
• Experience with high-speed or high-power semiconductor devices, specifically power converter designs over 100kVA and in medium voltage applications.
• Solid technical knowledge, competence, and system-level design experience, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proven track record of managing multiple power electronics projects involving analog and digital electronics as well as control circuitry, with experience in EMI filter design and product qualification/compliance testing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in an agile product development model.
