Ecological Modeller Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned environmental professional with strong programming expertise to take on the role of ecological model development and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model Components & Integration: Collaborating with agricultural ecosystem models (AEM) including plant growth models, soil organic carbon models, soil water models, mineral nitrogen models, and grazing models.
  • Model Integration: Implementing and maintaining the integration between different AEM components, ensuring seamless data flow between plant growth, soil carbon, water, nitrogen, and livestock models within the Bayesian data assimilation framework.
  • Technical Development: Contributing to the development and maintenance of the Bayesian data assimilation framework that underpins the AEM, ensuring robust uncertainty quantification and model calibration.
  • Code Quality & Collaboration: Ensuring all modelling code meets high standards for reliability, performance, and maintainability, with comprehensive testing and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing complex ecological models.
  • Expertise in Python programming language and proficiency in Bayesian data assimilation techniques.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
