Job Description:

As a Geotechnical Driller, you will play a pivotal role in executing drilling operations for geotechnical investigations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accuracy and safety of borehole drilling activities, in compliance with project specifications and industry standards. You will work closely with the site supervisor and geotechnical engineer to ensure the smooth execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate drilling machines efficiently and safely according to project specifications and relevant standards, ensuring precision in all operations.
  • Monitor drilling conditions by checking gauges and equipment, making necessary adjustments during the drilling process to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Bore or drill holes in rock for routing, anchoring, blasting, or building foundations, ensuring precision in all operations.
  • Maintain and ensure proper functioning of rigs and related accessories, including performing regular checks and intermediate maintenance.
  • Record and update project information on the daily driller's log sheet, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Properly label and store samples for transfer to the laboratory and hand them over to the geotechnical engineer, ensuring efficient sample management.
  • Ensure the implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices in the workplace, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Verify and maintain the identification of machines and accessories, ensuring they are properly labeled and documented, and adhering to industry standards.
  • Follow the instructions of the Head of Section or Quality Assurance Officer (Q.A.O.), reporting all work-related matters to the site supervisor or geotechnical engineer, ensuring effective communication.
  • Ensure the safety and accuracy of all drilling activities and maintain a safe working environment for the crew, promoting a culture of safety and responsibility.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in geotechnical drilling or a related field, including familiarity with drilling machinery, techniques, and safety standards, ensuring a strong foundation in drilling operations.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of drilling procedures, equipment maintenance, and borehole techniques, ensuring the ability to execute drilling operations efficiently and safely.
  • Safety Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of QMS/EMS/HSE protocols and the ability to implement these in the field, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to monitor drilling conditions and make adjustments to ensure safety and accuracy in drilling operations, ensuring precision in all operations.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication with the crew, site supervisor, and geotechnical engineer for smooth execution of work, ensuring effective collaboration and teamwork.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle the physical demands of operating heavy machinery and working in a construction or industrial environment, ensuring the ability to perform drilling operations safely and efficiently.
Additional Requirements:
  • Familiarity with rig and equipment maintenance, ensuring the ability to perform regular checks and intermediate maintenance.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team, ensuring effective collaboration and teamwork.
  • Willingness to work in challenging environments, including working outdoors in varying weather conditions, ensuring adaptability and flexibility.
  • Certification in relevant health and safety standards is preferred, ensuring a strong foundation in safety protocols and procedures.
