Animation and Rigging Expert

Imagia Studios is seeking a highly experienced Animation and Rigging Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will mentor and direct our artists in animation techniques, providing top-notch training on Autodesk Maya and Blender software.

As an expert in your field, you will teach various animation styles, including realistic, cartoonish, and stylized approaches. You will also share your knowledge on how to create proper animations and rigs to support our VFX studio.

To ensure seamless integration between Autodesk Maya and Blender, you must be able to provide solutions for successful transitions between the two software programs.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will teach our in-house animators and riggers effective and efficient techniques to enhance their skills. You will also share your experience as an animator and rigger in global cinema, providing valuable insights to our team.

  • Mastery of Animation and Rigging: Proven ability to animate and rig complex characters and scenes using Blender and Maya software.
  • Animation Principles: Mastery of keyframe animation principles and flexibility in applying them, especially in realistic or semi-realistic character animation.
  • Animation Workflows: Experience with various animation workflows and pipelines, including traditional hand-drawn animation and computer-generated imagery (CGI).
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address animation issues independently of tools and software.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adjust animation style to suit the project (realistic, cartoonish, stylized, etc.).
  • Anatomy and Deformation: Mastery and understanding of anatomy and deformation of living creatures.
  • Rigging: Ability to create rigging that facilitates animators (controllers and sliders) and adapt rigs to animation styles (cartoonish, realistic, etc.).
  • Mentorship: Ability to mentor junior animators and riggers, then review results.

Responsibilities:

We require our ideal candidate to be responsible, collaborative, and communicative. They should be available for weekly reviews individually or in groups via video conferencing. Additionally, they will assist in designing training assignments and providing feedback. Their hourly rate and available hours per week will be discussed during the application process.
