Revenue Accountant Job Description

The role of Revenue Accountant involves managing end-to-end revenue accounting processes ensuring accurate and timely recognition in compliance with ASC 606 / IFRS 15 standards. This includes reviewing customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue treatment including multi-element arrangements and variable considerations.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with Sales, Legal, and FP&A teams to assess deal structures and ensure alignment with revenue recognition policies. Additionally, preparing revenue schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations for month-end and quarter-end close is essential.

Another crucial aspect of this position is analyzing deferred revenue, billing schedules, and revenue forecasts to support financial reporting and audit readiness. Partnering with IT and finance systems teams to enhance automation and reporting capabilities related to revenue is also vital.

As a Revenue Accountant, you will support external audits and internal controls by providing documentation and insights into revenue processes. Furthermore, monitoring changes in accounting standards and advising on implications for revenue recognition is critical.

Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in revenue accounting or revenue recognition preferably in SaaS, technology, or services environment.
  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 / IFRS 15 and practical application in complex contract scenarios.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle and revenue sub-ledgers or modules.
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, reconciliations; experience with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is beneficial.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and sales teams.
