Lead Hardware Systems Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Hardware Systems Design Engineer to join our team. As a senior member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for the design and development of defense and marine products from requirements to qualified products.

This role includes:

  • Understanding hardware systems design/redesign requirements
  • Generating project proposals, including technology feasibility studies, architectural designs, and system requirements management
  • Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proposing cost reduction and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Developing and implementing product qualification plans to meet customer requirements and regulatory standards

You will also perform trade analysis of design approaches, engineering simulations, modeling, and mock-ups as part of feasibility studies.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A strong background in product design and development, from requirements to conceptual design, architectural design, detailed design, and analysis
  • Experience in designing and developing products for defense or marine applications
  • Knowledge of complete product life cycles, from requirements to qualified products
  • Experience in performing feasibility analyses, associated reviews, and required deliverables in each phase
  • Strong knowledge of simulation tools, hand calculations, architectural design, PUGH matrices, and functional simulations/trade-off analysis
  • Working experience in product performance evaluation (hardware verification) and product qualification to comply with MIL-STD-461G and MIL-STD-810G standards
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams (electrical, mechanical, industrialization, procurement, suppliers)
  • Understanding and use of DFMEA and DFM tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting skills on hardware systems

Prior experience in driving new technologies, product improvement initiatives, value-engineering initiatives, and integrating PLCs, motors, motor drive electronics, control, and command systems is desirable.
