Job Summary

Comcast is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our database operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating the operation of several complex database files. This role requires a strong understanding of database administration, including hardware and software evaluation and installation, logical and physical database design and implementation, structured testing of database designs, security administration, backup and recovery planning, performance and tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques, and development of policies, standards, and procedures.

Core Responsibilities
  • Communicate and understand the impact of database changes to affected parties and make recommendations as appropriate. Maintain hardware platforms to perform at optimum response, capacity planning, and implementation of new databases due to conversions.
  • Consult with project managers to design appropriate solutions. Assist development teams with application schema designs and apply best practices.
  • Commission and install new applications.
  • Assist in leading a task force to develop and implement a database that addresses business needs. Advise on new database technologies, trends, and features.
  • Develop, revise, and implement policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines necessary to effectively administer the database environment.
  • Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.
  • Design, tune, maintain, and support database systems for highly available, high-volume internet applications.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in database administration, with a strong focus on database design, implementation, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong understanding of database management systems, including database design, implementation, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database security, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of database technologies, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and cloud-based databases.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including development, project management, and operations teams.
