Key Role Overview

The Backend Engineer is a pivotal role in our R&D group, driving the development of innovative features and capabilities for our microservices backend.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing new features, ensuring seamless integration with various video and audio live/VOD assets, personalized processing, and distribution across the world to end-users, all in real-time.

This involves working closely with cross-functional teams to collaborate on user-facing features, providing end-to-end social interaction functionalities on multiple platforms including web, smart TVs, iOS, Android, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing and developing high-quality software components
  • Maintaining and improving existing infrastructure, tools, and workflows
  • Ensuring quality through automated component testing, E2E testing, and performance testing
  • Exploring and recommending innovative approaches to improve platform performance and scalability

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering from a leading university
  • At least 8 years of experience as a Software/Backend Engineer in Python
  • Strong understanding of SQL or NoSQL databases, leveraging data modeling solution for scalability and performance
  • Strong experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS
  • Expertise in microservices architecture, including REST APIs and message queues
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
  • Fluent in written and verbal English communication

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in CI/CD environments (e.g., GHA, Jenkins)
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code development (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
