We're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to specialise in video development. This role requires expertise in front-end technologies and video streaming to create exceptional user experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex backend projects involving multiple engineers, focusing on performance improvements and migrations.
  • Manage various codecs (H.264, H.265, VP9, AV1) and formats (MP4, WebM, HLS, DASH) using tools like FFmpeg, GStreamer or similar.
  • Design and implement scalable backend solutions for video processing features, including encoding, transcoding, and adaptive streaming, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Enhance video storage, retrieval, and streaming performance through CDNs, caching, and adaptive bitrate streaming.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, design solutions, and deliver impactful features.
  • Serve as a technical leader within the team, making thoughtful architectural and design decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term scalability and maintainability.
  • Mentor junior engineers by providing code reviews, design feedback, and technical guidance, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to enhance system reliability and customer satisfaction.
