ADA / PDF Accessibility Specialist Job Description

This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for ensuring end-to-end accessibility delivery for various clients, adhering to ADA, WCAG, and Section 508 requirements.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Conducting automated and manual audits on websites, portals, documents, and multimedia content to identify accessibility gaps.
  • Performing real-user accessibility testing using screen readers and keyboard-only navigation to ensure seamless user experience.
  • Providing clear, prioritized fixes and hands-on remediation support for PDFs, Office documents, videos, and third-party platforms to ensure compliance.
  • Guiding developers on accessible coding practices, including ARIA, semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create inclusive digital products.
  • Preparing VPATs/ACRs and client-facing accessibility conformance documentation to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Advising clients on ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2, and emerging US/state accessibility laws to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Supporting quarterly monitoring and ongoing compliance programs to maintain a culture of accessibility within the organization.

To excel in this role, you must possess:

  • A strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA Title II/III, Section 504/508 to inform your accessibility strategy.
  • Hands-on experience with JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Axe, WAVE, SiteImprove, and Adobe Acrobat Pro to drive results.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, ARIA, CSS3, and JavaScript (React/Angular a plus) to develop accessible digital solutions.
  • Strong documentation/reporting skills (audit findings, VPAT/ACR) to effectively communicate insights and recommendations.
  • Experience supporting federal, state, or higher education contracts preferred to leverage expertise in specialized sectors.

  • IAAP CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility).
  • IAAP WAS (Web Accessibility Specialist).
  • IAAP ADS (Accessible Document Specialist).
  • DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester.
  • IAAP CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies).
