Job Title: Medical Coding Specialist
About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Key Responsibilities- Coding duties include reviewing clinical documentation and assigning appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.
- Identify and code chronic conditions accurately for Risk Adjustment/HCC coding.
- Audit charts to evaluate documentation insufficiencies and ensure they support code assignments.
- Evaluate coded data against payer/regulatory guidelines and internal compliance standards.
- Resolve queries with providers or documentation authors when medical records are unclear or missing details.
- Maintain productivity and accuracy targets as set by the team/project.
- Certification: CPC and/or CRC from recognized bodies.
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree preferably in Life Sciences.
- Experience: 1-3 years coding experience in U.S. healthcare/risk adjustment/multispecialty coding.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology.
- Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding systems.
- Good analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines.
