About Our Special Education ProgramWe are a leading special school in Chennai, dedicated to providing exceptional education and vocational training for children and adults with diverse abilities.Our campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.We are seeking a skilled Speech Therapist to join our dynamic team of educators and support the development of our students' communication skills.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and implementing Individualised Therapy Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's specific needs and goals. They will provide one-on-one and group speech therapy sessions to improve articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Speech Assessment: Assess students' speech, language, and communication abilities using standardised tests and informal evaluations.
  • Individualised Therapy Plans: Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's specific needs and goals.
  • Speech Therapy Sessions: Provide one-on-one and group speech therapy sessions to improve articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive communication.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with special education teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and parents to support integrated student development.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and document students' progress and adapt therapy plans as needed.
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication: Assist in the use of AAC tools when appropriate.
  • Staff Training: Educate and train staff and caregivers on communication strategies and support techniques.
  • Professional Development: Participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records and comply with all school policies and regulatory standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
  • Certification/License: Valid certification or license to practice as a Speech Therapist (as per local/state regulations).
  • Experience: 3 to 7 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities.
  • Bilingualism: Proficient in English and Tamil.
  • Assistive Technology: Familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Organisational Skills: Good organisational and documentation skills.
