Job Title: Data Scientist - Databricks and Cloud Expert

Position Overview: At Synechron, we are seeking a skilled data scientist to play a key role in our data initiatives, particularly focusing on our migration journey from Azure to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have a solid background in data engineering technologies such as Databricks, SQL, and PySpark, as well as experience with cloud platforms, notably Azure and GCP or AWS.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop data solutions on Databricks, ensuring compatibility with our Azure to GCP migration strategy.
  • Construct and optimize data pipelines, leveraging SQL and PySpark, to facilitate efficient data processing during the cloud platform transition.
  • Participate in the migration of data storage systems, including data lakes and warehouses, from Azure to GCP, prioritizing data fidelity and system availability.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and fulfill data requirements, translating these into effective data strategies and insights.
  • Implement best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and data integration, with particular attention to cloud migration scenarios.
  • Uphold data governance and security standards throughout the transfer from Azure to GCP, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, maintaining data quality and service continuity during the migration phase.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in data engineering and cloud migration to enhance our data capabilities.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with junior data engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience with Junior and Senior roles in a data engineering role, with a strong focus on Databricks, SQL, and PySpark.
  • Solid experience with either Azure and GCP or AWS with a clear understanding of their data services and infrastructure is a bonus.
  • Proficient in data modeling, data warehousing, and the creation of ETL pipelines.
  • Demonstrated skill in managing data in cloud environments and experience with cloud migrations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
