We are seeking a highly skilled professional with expertise in credit management to fill this role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortgage underwriting, including experience with credit policy, responsible lending guidelines, and loan origination systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assessing home loan/mortgage applications based on credit policy and guidelines.
  • Verifying income, conducting credit checks, reviewing property valuations, and performing responsible lending assessments.
  • Liaising with stakeholders for clarifications or documentation gaps.
  • Providing timely and high-quality credit decisions while meeting service level agreements and compliance standards.
  • Mentoring junior underwriters and supporting process improvements.
  • Preparing daily/weekly reports on pipeline, service level agreements, and quality metrics.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A graduate or postgraduate degree in finance, commerce, or a related field.
  • No less than five years of mortgage underwriting experience, with two to three years in the Australian home loan domain.
  • A strong understanding of credit policies, responsible lending guidelines, and loan origination systems.
  • Experience working with multiple lenders is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • The ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment.
  • Experience with various income types, including PAYG, self-employed, rental, and foreign income.
  • Sound knowledge of credit bureaus.
  • Familiarity with verification tools and fraud checks used in the mortgage ecosystem.
