Data Center Controls Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Data Center Controls Specialist to join our team in Mumbai, India. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining mission-critical facilities, including data centers.
In this role, you will work closely with internal business teams and colocation vendors to identify, document, and resolve operational/design deficiencies that could impact site capability or availability. You will also provide full life-cycle support to data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
As a Data Center Controls Specialist, you will be the go-to engineering resource for technical advice and will engage with diverse teams to:
- Develop and implement new and existing standards for control systems;
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for controls on new data center projects;
- Review and identify risks within the scope of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS);
- Review and accept proposed changes to site-specific control infrastructure against AWS Data Center standards;
- SUPPORT THE DESIGN FOR EXISTING DATA CENTER CONTROL SYSTEM UPGRADES AND DESIGN-SOLUTIONS;
- Troubleshoot site/equipment failures related to control equipment;
- Conduct site audits of data centers, including producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation;
- Lead internal team training and knowledge sharing sessions on Colo controls;
- Review and improve controls-related processes.

As a Data Center Controls Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from designing and constructing new data centers to improving the efficiency and reliability of existing ones. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and construction, to deliver high-quality results and exceed customer expectations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Controls/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;
- 6+ cumulative years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities;
- DIRECT EXPERIENCE WITH THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION, OR MAINTENANCE OF MISSION CRITICAL FACILITIES;
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents;
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as resident engineer or hands-on design consultant;
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region;
- Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/mass production;
- Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers;
- EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls system experience (software and/or hardware).
