About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Logistics Engineering Manager to join our team at Alstom. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for optimizing materials flow, designing efficient logistics solutions, and improving process cycle times.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement optimized materials flow processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency
  • Design and implement efficient logistics solutions for inbound and outbound shipments
  • Define layouts for space optimization and required infrastructure
  • Improve process cycle times by analyzing end-to-end processes and driving agility within the supply chain
  • Conduct time and motion studies to identify areas for improvement
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to EHS and process failures
  • Define kitting strategies in line with manufacturing team requirements
  • Drive EHS improvements through lifting plans, MHE movement optimization, and vehicle movements on site
  • Define space requirements for warehouse operations and optimize storage space
  • Review SCM processes and drive agility by eliminating non-value-added activities
  • Deploy lean tools and methodologies to reduce waste
  • Manage physical material flows to ensure alignment with system flows
  • Ensure material availability, integrity, and delivery on time to production lines
  • Monitor FIFO in warehouses and ensure compliance with perpetual cycle count requirements
  • Work closely with warehouse key users to manage stock in the ERP system
  • Monitor and challenge performance of each warehouse activity through KPIs
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement activities and APSYS roadmap

Management Responsibilities

  • Provide long-term vision to the team, set yearly objectives, and support and coach team members in achieving targets
  • Manage 3PL and logistic partners, including costs, budget, invoices, and performance monitoring

Operational Activities

  • Define warehouse layouts and optimize storage space
  • Implement mirror areas in warehouses to optimize line feeding activities
  • Plan and manage material receipt, inbound transportation, stock entry, picking, and kitting
  • Respect specific storage regulations for chemicals, batteries, and other hazardous materials
  • Ensure continual improvement of warehouse organization and processes
  • Quarantine non-conforming material and follow up on non-conformity resolution
  • Analyze root causes of method issues and agree on corrective actions with internal stakeholders

Packaging and Methods

  • Ensure PFEP for entire BOM, with approved PDS, storage, and handling standards
  • Implement optimized eco-friendly packaging solutions that save on cost, space, and meet JIT/standard inventory norms
  • Drive implementation of returnable packaging, FLO5, FLO7, JIT, and direct-to-line packaging
  • Reduce in-site inventory for local parts
  • Drive 3PL milk run optimization for freight, inventory, and packaging costs
