Job Description

The Investment Risk Manager plays a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating various types of risks associated with investment portfolios. This includes market risks, credit risks, operational risks, liquidity risks, and regulatory risks.

To achieve this goal, the Investment Risk Manager must analyze potential risks, evaluate investment portfolios, and implement risk mitigation strategies. These strategies may involve setting risk limits, collaborating with the investment team to ensure risk considerations are incorporated into portfolio decisions, and implementing change management processes.

  • Analyzing financial data to identify trends and patterns that may indicate potential risks.
  • Evaluating investment portfolios to assess exposure to various risk factors and identifying areas for improvement.

Risk Mitigation Strategies:

  • Implementing risk management processes and procedures to minimize potential losses.
  • Collaborating with the investment team to ensure that risk considerations are incorporated into portfolio decisions.

Change Management:

  • Reviewing new products, processes, and activities to ensure they align with the organization's risk management framework.

Investment Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensuring that all risk management activities adhere to relevant regulations and internal policies.
  • Staying up-to-date with evolving regulatory changes and implementing them as necessary.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Preparing detailed risk reports for senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Developing risk models and stress-testing scenarios to measure potential impacts on the portfolio.
  • Continuously monitoring market conditions, investment trends, and risk exposures.

Operational Risk and Internal Audit:

  • Supporting the Chief Risk Officer in Operational Risk and Internal Audit engagements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field (Master's degree or professional certifications such as FRM, CFA is a plus).
  • 7–10 years of experience in risk management, preferably within an investment management or financial services organization.
  • Candidates with an Investments / Analytics background are suitable.
  • Prior experience in Wealth Management, Mutual Funds, PMS, or Alternate Investments is preferred.
