About this role

We are seeking an exceptional Cloud Solutions Architect to join our team. As a key member, you will be instrumental in designing and building next-generation cloud-based compute platforms for life insurance delivery. Your expertise will help us navigate strategic goals, growth models, opportunity costs, talent acquisition, and reliability considerations.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating closely with the product development team to ensure platform feature architecture aligns with operational needs and opportunities. With a growing customer base, it's time to mature our software infrastructure, and we need someone like you to make a significant impact at a high-growth enterprise software company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with cross-functional teams (product, delivery, data, and support) to design scalable and secure application architectures on AWS using services like EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambdas, VPC, RDS, ElastiCache provisioned via Terraform.
  • Design and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CICD) pipelines using GitHub, Jenkins, Spinnaker, and Helm to automate application deployment and updates, focusing on container management, orchestration, scaling, optimizing performance, and resource utilization, as well as deployment strategies.
  • Implement security best practices for AWS applications, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, container security, and secure coding practices.
  • Design and implement observability best practices for applications using Cloudwatch and NewRelic, considering monitoring, logging, and alerting to provide insights into application performance and health.
  • Design and implement integrations of application components and external systems to ensure smooth and efficient data flow.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to application performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Create and maintain a quarter-over-quarter backlog by identifying key areas of improvement, such as cost optimization, process enhancement, and security enhancements.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation outlining infrastructure design, integrations, deployment processes, and configurations.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to guide and mentor them in implementing designed practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in AWS Services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, SES, SQS, ElastiCache, Redshift, EFS.
  • Strong programming skills in languages like Groovy, Python, Bash Shell Scripting.
  • Experience with CICD tools and practices, including Jenkins, Spinnaker, ArgoCD.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Understanding of AWS security best practices, including IAM, KMS.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Proficiency in using observability, monitoring, and logging tools like AWS Cloudwatch, NewRelic, Prometheus.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration tools and concepts, including Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
