Job Description

We're seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Editor to join our editorial team. As an Editor, you'll be responsible for verifying the accuracy of statistical data and facts, proofreading articles, and enhancing their quality before publication.

EssentiallySports is a leading sports entertainment digital media publication with over 100 million page views per month. We're committed to producing high-quality content that engages our millions of readers worldwide.

  • Actively edit and publish 20-25 articles daily.
  • Proofread articles to ensure no grammatical or factual errors remain and check for plagiarism.
  • Research to verify the accuracy of facts and identify incorrect claims.
  • Publish articles in a timely fashion for priority news-based articles.
  • Mentor and guide writers to refine their quality and output.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring smooth daily operations of writers in the sport division.
  • Undertaking other key duties as instructed by the Editorial Team Lead.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6-12 months of experience in proofreading and/or content editing.
  • Prior experience leading a team of writers is a plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Quick with fact-checking and enhancing editorial quality.
  • Takes ownership of publishing articles on time and is flexible for event coverage days.
  • Has leadership qualities, good judgment, and people management skills.
  • Keen eye for enticing titles and subheadings with basic SEO knowledge.
