Cloud Data Engineer Role Overview

This is a highly skilled data engineer position focused on designing, developing and maintaining scalable cloud-based data pipelines and ETL processes using GCP services.

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in big data engineering with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including expertise in BigQuery, Cloud Data Fusion, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer, Cloud Function, and Cloud Run.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, PL/SQL, and SQL are required, as well as proficiency in NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and best practices is essential.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, along with the ability to communicate complex technical ideas effectively, are necessary for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-quality, scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into GCP.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and analysts, to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business needs.
  • Optimize and tune data pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and metadata to support data analytics and reporting.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption to data workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in data engineering with a strong focus on GCP.
  • Proficiency in GCP services, including BigQuery, Cloud Data Fusion, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer, Cloud Function, and Cloud Run.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and PL/SQL, as well as proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with data integration tools and frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, along with strong communication and collaboration skills.
