UPL Limited, a global leader in sustainable agriculture products, is seeking an experienced Senior Research Director to lead its process development team. With a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability, UPL aims to accelerate progress for the food system.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of organic synthetic chemists to develop new processes and projects that drive business growth. This includes providing scientific and strategic leadership, coordinating multiple projects, and ensuring compliance with safety rules and SOPs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 2-4 people to develop non-infringing processes/products and improve cost-effectiveness by optimizing yield, modifying processes, and maintaining quality.
- Provide scientific (80%) and strategic (20%) leadership in operating chemistry-related discovery project(s).
- Coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced international environment.
- Interpret data and meet strict guidelines.
- Propose scientifically established solutions to scientific problems while conducting project risk assessment and mitigation.
- Monitor, measure, and report on scientific issues, opportunities, and developmental plans within agreed formats and timescales.
- Report scientific results.
- Evaluate feasibility and profitability of potential new projects.
- Implement and assure company safety rules and SOPs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate daily on project progress.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry with 8-12 years of experience.
- Strong record maintenance and safe handling practices of chemicals and chemical wastes.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary of $160,000-$200,000 per year, commensurate with experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
Location:
This role is based in our global headquarters in India or other locations worldwide, depending on the selected candidate's preference.
