The Legal Specialist will play a pivotal role in providing expert legal counsel, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing litigation, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and advising on policy development to safeguard the institution's interests.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide timely and accurate legal advice on various matters to senior officials, ensuring the university adheres to all relevant laws and regulations.
- Draft, review, and vet legal documents, including Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and standard agreements with external parties.
- Coordinate with internal and external legal advisors and standing counsels on court matters, preparing responses to grievances and, when necessary, attending court.
- Monitor and manage internal legal processes, update existing internal policies, and help formulate and implement new ones.
- Serve as a member secretary for committees, such as the Committee Against Sexual Harassment, and handle internal disputes from a legal perspective.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in law (LLB or LLM) from a recognized institution with Bar Council of India registration is required.
- Minimum six years of experience as an advocate or working in the legal department of an organization, preferably in the education sector, demonstrating hands-on application of legal knowledge.
- Possess strong analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. Knowledge of English is essential.
