Job Title: Technical Product Owner

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for the development team's backlog and capacity, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Owner of the team backlog, responsible for creating, prioritizing, and grooming backlog content to ensure smooth development and delivery.
  • Finds ways to mitigate risks and escalates when necessary, ensuring the quality of development output and continuous improvement of team productivity.
  • Responsible for taking feedback from the team and stakeholders into the team backlog, ensuring business content impacting the team is written by a business line representative.
  • Manages the priority and balance of technical and business requirements, ensuring efficient communication throughout the development timeline.
  • Defines business development items into the team backlog in cooperation with a business line representative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages development team backlog, ensuring content is created, prioritized, groomed, and done.
  • Manages development risks and takes actions to mitigate them.
  • Monitors team backlog development progress and reports progress follow-up using dashboards, Kanban boards, etc.
  • Ensures all planned items are developed and delivered on agreed schedules.
  • R&D delivery responsibility for the backlog item from design to development activities and final production deployment.
  • Defines and manages the critical path for R&D delivery to minimize delays on various deliverables.
  • Plans deployment phases of developed functionality across multiple products with release management and keeps product management informed.
  • Supports product management to set work priorities with accurate information regarding work estimates, needed special skills, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Provides realistic delivery schedules for roadmapping purposes.
  • Assists the development team in daily work, helps remove impediments, finds ways to improve productivity, and coaches, mentors, and develops team members.
  • Makes sure team defects are categorized without delay and those needing quick resolution are immediately investigated.
  • Monitors component/module/application/platform/system/product health, comprised of total bug amount, severity, and priorities, and technical depth.
  • Continuously seeks ways to improve quality by defining and following-up on quality improvement actions for the component/module/application/platform/system/product when needed.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Strong relevant work experience in software development, preferably from product or service development instead of customer-specific delivery.
  • Good product owner and/or project management skills.
  • Experience in modern development and design methodologies, including Lean/Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, continuous delivery).
  • Understanding of non-functional requirements like security, scalability, and serviceability.
  • Experience in developing, deploying, or maintaining cloud/SaaS products and services.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • High motivation skills and able to resolve conflicts inside or between teams.
  • Practitioner level in Product Development Process (Design, Development, Implementation, Product backlog management, Team backlog management).
  • Learner level in Product Release Management process.
  • Practitioner level in Defect Management process.
