Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Redshift Engineer to support our clients in architecting, optimizing, and scaling AWS Redshift environments. Key responsibilities include leading architecture review and validation for multiple AWS Redshift clusters, validating sizing assumptions, and providing right-sizing recommendations.

  • Define and implement operational excellence best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting)
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and health metrics for Redshift platforms
  • Analyze and optimize query performance (workload patterns, schema design, tuning)
  • Establish schema governance and define change management/version control processes
  • Define a clear, auditable process for deploying new tables, columns, and views
Requirements / Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in data engineering or database engineering/administration, with deep hands-on expertise in AWS Redshift. A strong background in query performance tuning, schema optimization, and workload management is also required.

  • Expert-level knowledge of Redshift fundamentals: table design (Distribution and Sort Keys), WLM tuning, vacuum operations, concurrency scaling
  • Ability to develop and implement operational best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting)
  • Demonstrated expertise in schema governance, version control, and structured change management
  • Excellent communication and consultative skills—able to clearly articulate solutions to technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience working in client-facing roles within professional services, consulting, or enterprise environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of strategic outcomes—not just tactical tasks
