Job Title: Senior Structural Design Professional

Industry Overview:

Civil and structural design engineers play a vital role in the oil and gas sector, ensuring the integrity of complex facilities through end-to-end design analysis and management.

This highly specialized professional is responsible for conceptual studies, detailed engineering, and operational support for greenfield and brownfield projects. The engineer guarantees safety, cost-effectiveness, and structural soundness of civil and structural assets on land or offshore.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Engineering
  • Conduct advanced structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete and steel structures, including pipe racks, platforms, foundations, and buildings.
  • Perform comprehensive in-place, fatigue, seismic, and blast analysis for onshore and offshore structures.
  • Develop detailed engineering deliverables, such as technical specifications, calculation reports, and engineering drawings (GAs, details, layouts).
  • Project Management and Coordination
  • Lead civil and structural aspects of projects from conceptual (FEED) stages to detailed design and execution.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of designs.
  • Perform clash detection and resolution using 3D modeling tools to identify conflicts and mitigate issues.
  • Integrity and Maintenance
  • Conduct structural integrity assessments of existing facilities and perform fitness-for-service evaluations.
  • Develop and implement structural inspection and reliability programs to monitor asset health.
  • Provide technical support and repair recommendations based on inspection reports and risk assessments.
  • Field and Construction Support
  • Perform site visits and inspections to ensure construction activities comply with design specifications.
  • Provide on-site technical guidance, address construction queries, and evaluate change orders.
  • Support turnaround engineering with construction and temporary arrangements, along with necessary calculations in Upstream and Refinery facilities.
  • Documentation and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all designs and deliverables meet strict international and industry-specific standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including design changes and revision controls.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience: 8-12 years of relevant experience in high-risk industries, preferably in oil and gas, petrochemicals, or energy.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Analysis and Design: Proficiency in designing complex structures, dynamic analysis of equipment foundations, fatigue, seismic, and blast-resistant design.
    • Codes and Standards: In-depth knowledge of API, AISC, ASME, and other relevant international codes.
