Medical Care Specialist

Job Summary
As a key member of the Shishuka Children's Speciality Hospital team, the Medical Care Specialist will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position requires a skilled and compassionate professional who can work collaboratively with healthcare teams to assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical exams.
- Develop and update individualized care plans based on patient needs and responses to treatment.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
Collaboration
- Work closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care plans, procedures, and discharge instructions.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic health records.
Patient Education
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding health conditions, treatments, and lifestyle modifications.
- Assist patients in understanding their medications and managing their care post-discharge.
Emergency Response
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions and provide appropriate interventions.
- Participate in emergency response and disaster preparedness activities.
Professional Development
- Stay current with best practices in nursing and participate in continuing education and training opportunities.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards in nursing practice.
Qualifications
- Current RN or LPN license in the state.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (for RN) or associate degree/diploma in Nursing (for LPN).
- Previous nursing experience preferred, especially in a hospital setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required for specific units.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
Working Conditions
- Hospital environment with a fast-paced and dynamic atmosphere.
- May require shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical demands may include lifting patients, standing for extended periods, and responding to emergency situations.
