Procurement Leadership Role

The role of Assistant General Manager - Purchase involves taking on a critical leadership position in overseeing and optimizing procurement activities to support operational and strategic objectives.

  • Lead procurement operations for various material categories, including raw materials, spares, consumables, electricals, chemicals, fuel, packing materials, tools, and other related items.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with business objectives and market conditions.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, building strong vendor relationships to ensure supply security and competitive pricing.
  • Negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms, focusing on cost reduction and value addition.
  • Monitor supplier performance and coordinate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering skill development and promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet procurement targets and deadlines.
  • Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and supply risks to develop proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze procurement data and metrics to drive cost savings and improve procurement efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality, logistics, and finance teams to align procurement with operational needs.
  • Support new product launches and process improvements through effective sourcing and vendor engagement.
  • Prepare procurement reports, forecasts, and presentations for senior management.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of procurement processes, contracts, and supplier evaluations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field; MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • 8-12 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in manufacturing, heavy industry, or energy sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement lifecycle, vendor management, contract negotiation, and category management.
  • Experience handling procurement volumes with significant financial value.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with ERP and procurement management systems.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and prioritize competing demands effectively.
