Senior Cloud Engineer Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Cloud Engineer to spearhead the digital transformation of 800,000 clients across three brands. As a critical member of our tribe, you will play a pivotal role in establishing the BizBanking platform.

Our tribe focuses on the specialized needs of small and medium enterprise clients in Germany, an area earmarked for growth and investment within Corporate Bank. We are responsible for developing digital sales and service processes as well as automating processes for this client segment.

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will design, build, and scale cloud-based applications, productionalize backend services with focus on performance, security, and maintainability, and support DevOps workflows incl. infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipelines.

You will collaborate with product and business teams to translate user stories into technical solutions and contribute to an agile environment, incl. sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives. You will demonstrate technical excellence and establish best practices that set the standard for the team.

  • Develop and deploy data-driven backend applications in cloud environments
  • Write clean, maintainable code in Java and/or Python, adhering to clean code principles
  • Design and enhance system architectures for scalability and resilience
  • Perform code reviews and enforce clean code principles
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, write and maintain unit and integration tests for reliable software delivery
  • Provision and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker
  • Apply concepts of deployments and configurations in GKE/OpenShift
  • Integrate with external systems and consume APIs
  • Contribute to frontend development using JavaScript when required
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Deep expertise in cloud engineering, with a focus on scalability and resilience
  • Experience with Java and/or Python programming languages
  • Strong understanding of system architectures and their enhancement for scalability
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker
  • Ability to perform code reviews and enforce clean code principles
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
