We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to manage and optimize distributed search systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement efficient data distribution, sharding, caching, and graph traversals for high query performance.
  • Tune query performance and indexing strategies to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and monitoring using DevOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time for revenue-impacting systems.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting to detect performance issues.

Requirements and Skills:

Education: Bachelor of Technology or Master of Computer Applications

Experience:

  • 5+ years managing distributed search systems in production.
  • 2+ years managing in-memory databases or graph databases.
  • Proven track record with critical production systems impacting revenue.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AWS services including OpenSearch Service, EC2, ElastiCache, and CloudWatch.
  • Advanced knowledge of Elasticsearch/OpenSearch APIs, query DSL, and optimization.
  • Experience with in-memory databases or graph databases.
  • Skilled in DevOps tools including Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for distributed systems.
  • Quick learner, adaptable to new tools and processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Database Specialty, or Elastic Certified Engineer.
  • Neo4j Certified Professional or Redis-related certifications.
  • DevOps certifications including Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities of the Job Include (But Not Limited To):

  • Serve as primary point of contact for advanced-level troubleshooting and perform hands-on database/system administration.
  • Automate regular administrative tasks and ensure correctness.
  • Document data standards, procedures, and dictionary definitions.
  • Collaborate with SREs and developers on database design, performance tuning, and production support.
  • Help evolve application/database architecture and support environment creation.
  • Respond to on-call incidents and support technical queries from staff, management, and vendors.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data and index shard management, schema planning, and data modelling for distributed search, in-memory, and graph-based systems. Additionally, the candidate must be proficient in DevOps tools and have experience managing critical production systems that directly impact revenue.
