Job Title: Financial Messaging Expert

As a skilled SWIFT messaging professional, you will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and supporting mission-critical financial messaging systems. You will ensure secure, high-availability operations that integrate seamlessly with banking applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SWIFT platforms including SAA and SMH/AMH.
  • Set up, configure, and manage SWIFT messaging infrastructure across environments.
  • Design and implement message routing, transformation, and validation logic for MT, MX, and ISO 20022 message formats.
  • Monitor system performance, manage error handling, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Support message onboarding, integration with payment engines and core banking systems, and maintain operations.
  • Implement and monitor SWIFT security controls, including CSP compliance and certificate/HSM management.
  • Carry out system upgrades, patching, disaster recovery planning, and compliance audits.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools using SQL, shell scripting, Python, Perl, or equivalent to streamline messaging processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams - security, infrastructure, application, and operations - to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Provide technical documentation, training, and knowledge transfer to stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with SWIFT Alliance Access (SAA) and SWIFT Message Handling (SMH/Alliance Messaging Hub).
  • Strong understanding of financial messaging formats (MT, MX) and ISO 20022 standards.
  • Expertise in scripting and automation using SQL and languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl.
  • Familiarity with payment systems, message flows, and integration protocols (e.g., MQ, SFTP, SOAP/REST API).
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities and experience in high-availability, production support environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills paired with analytical thinking.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Preferred / Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with SWIFT infrastructure components like HSM, PKI, and related connectivity/security protocols.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT CSP framework and audit readiness.
  • Exposure to Unix/Linux environments and scripting for automation.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their integration into SWIFT workflows.
  • Experience with compliance, regulatory frameworks, and production support in banking setups.
