Job Summary:

The Materials Engineering Technology (MET) team at Bechtel is seeking an experienced Materials Engineer to support projects in the Energy business unit. The successful candidate will have a degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy and a minimum of 5 years' industrial experience, preferably in a fabrication facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish welding requirements for equipment and piping in petroleum refineries, petrochemical plants, industrial gas, and power plants.
  • Develop technical specifications for materials and joining.
  • Support engineering disciplines in preparation and review of data sheets and requisition packages.
  • Review materials content in technical bids.
  • Provide post-award technical support to requisitioning engineers.
  • Perform quality assurance activities at supplier/fabricator facilities.
  • Plan and conduct independent work using sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years' industrial experience is required for this position.
  • A basic knowledge of other materials-related technologies, including welding, nondestructive examination, paint and coatings, thermal insulation, and non-metallic materials.
  • A sound knowledge of welding of pressurized equipment and piping.
  • Knowledge of international materials standards and pressure vessel and piping fabrication codes.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of metallurgical engineering.
  • Ability to coordinate work with other engineering disciplines.
