Software Engineer II

At Warner Bros. Discovery, we are committed to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of our society and the world around us. As a Software Engineer II, you will be part of the Asynchronous Messaging Services team (AMS) within the Cloud Engineering group.

Job Overview

This role focuses on developing the Kafka-as-a-Service platform on top of Confluent Cloud. You will work in an Agile team following Scrum principles and collaborate with teams' leads to raise engineering excellence standards.

You will help solve problems related to building a global Kafka architecture considering scalability, replication, schema registries, and self-service IaC workflows for various use cases such as high-traffic telemetry, business-critical events, and data processing.

The ideal candidate will have some experience across the software stack and expertise in at least one of the following areas: Operating Kafka at scale, Cloud Infrastructure Automation, Database design, Data Processing, Distributed Systems Development, or Programming languages like Go-lang, Java, Kotlin, Scala, Python, or Ruby.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the Kafka-as-a-Service platform on top of Confluent Cloud.
  • Solve problems related to building a global Kafka architecture.
  • Work in an Agile team following Scrum principles.
  • Collaborate with teams' leads to raise engineering excellence standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience as a software developer.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for engineering teams.
  • Experience shipping quality code to production on a frequent and consistent basis.
  • Ability to thrive under minimal supervision with self-motivation and self-organization.
  • Experience running production infrastructure supporting multiple systems in a scalable, stable, and performant manner.
