Overview:

We operate in the travel and tourism services sector, providing domestic and international tour packages, ticketing, and vendor-managed travel solutions. This is a fully remote accounting role based in India, ideal for candidates who want hands-on bookkeeping and compliance experience in a fast-moving service business.

About The Role:

As a Junior Accountant, you will join our finance team to support day-to-day accounting, GST compliance, vendor settlements, and month-end reporting for travel operations. Your primary responsibilities include maintaining day-to-day books, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, performing regular bank reconciliations and ledger reconciliations, and supporting month-end close tasks such as preparing journal entries, accruals, expense allocations, and basic reconciled trial balances.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain day-to-day books: record invoices, receipts, vendor bills, and customer payments in the accounting system (Tally/QuickBooks/Zoho).
  2. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows: prepare invoices, follow up on collections, and process vendor payments.
  3. Perform regular bank reconciliations and ledger reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  4. Support month-end close: prepare journal entries, accruals, expense allocations, and basic reconciled trial balances.
  5. Assist with GST invoicing, return preparation, and coordination with tax consultants for filings.
  6. Maintain travel-specific accounting records: commissions, ticketing transactions, advances, and vendor settlements, and provide support for audits.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you must have:
  1. At least 13 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, preferably in the travel, hospitality, or services sectors.
  2. Proficiency with Tally ERP, QuickBooks, or Zoho Books and familiarity with cloud accounting workflows.
  3. Strong MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) and attention to numerical accuracy.
  4. Basic knowledge of GST invoicing and compliance procedures.
  5. Organised, deadline-driven, with clear written and verbal communication for remote collaboration.
