Technical IT Infrastructure Specialist

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality and timely IT infrastructure support to our datacentres, platforms, and corporate systems.

  • AIX Server management
  • SAN and storage array management are advantageous
  • Backup, Replication, HA, and Recovery technologies
  • AIX Server Security Management
  • AIX Server hardware

Organisational Structure:

This position reports directly to the Head of Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will administer and manage all development, UAT, pre-production, production, and DR environments, as well as internal corporate IT systems.

Key Objectives:

Availability: Ensure uptime SLA's are met every month by managing and resolving issues logs, performing scheduled maintenance, and managing third-party support contracts.

Performance: Ensure performance SLA's are met every month by monitoring system performance, capacity, and growth, suggesting and implementing improvements and hardware/software refreshes.

Information Security: Ensure our network and systems are internally and externally secure by following policies and procedures, documenting for audit purposes, and implementing security projects.

Business Continuity: Ensure our held data is secure and backed up by making regular backups, participating in yearly BCP & DR tests, and documenting resilience and backup plans.

Training: Develop professional and technical knowledge and skills. Provide technical advice and mentoring within the team.

Project Work: Implement new projects to meet project timelines and deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent industry certifications and experience.
  • AIX operating system administration skills.
  • Knowledge of automation scripting.
  • Keen interest in and knowledge of latest server and storage technologies.
  • Successfully implemented Infrastructure projects.
  • Good team player with ability to work independently and take initiative, drive change, and new technologies and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident in dealing with internal and external clients.
  • Passionate about providing an excellent service experience for our clients.
  • Superior problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent time-management skills – ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
