Job Title: Genetic Advisor

Our organization is seeking a skilled Genetic Advisor to provide expert guidance to individuals and families navigating genetic testing and counseling. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in helping people make informed decisions about their health.

• Provide pre-test and post-test genetic counseling by audio or video mode
• Offer in-person counseling at hospitals or clinics when required
• Collaborate with Clinical Geneticists and treating clinicians as needed
• Analyze patient histories, create 3-generation pedigrees, and maintain accurate records
• Educate individuals and at-risk family members about genetics, genetic disorders, and their consequences
• Discuss genetic testing options and potential outcomes
• Provide psychosocial support throughout the genetic testing process
• Explain test results to individuals, discussing the impact on themselves and their families
• Help individuals make informed decisions about further testing based on results
• Prepare written summaries for each session
• Participate in projects involving the Genetics team

Assisting Other Teams:

• Understand TRFs and enter clinical details in the PHENOME database using HPO terminology
• Ensure timely entry of Phenome data
• Liaise with Technical Support teams to resolve customer inquiries
• Communicate with referring clinicians/clients to gather clinical details for genetic analysis, share results, offer interpretations, and suggest further testing
• Complete the cycle of pre-test counseling, tracing test results, post-test counseling, and collaborate with clinicians as needed
• Provide written summaries of counseling sessions
• Engage with clinicians and offer scientific support
