Job Title: Data Transformation Specialist

As a Data Transformation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing scalable data pipelines using Snowflake and dbt. Your primary objective will be to ingest, transform, and deliver high-quality data to inform business decisions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Pipeline Design and Implementation: Develop efficient and high-performance ELT pipelines using dbt on Snowflake, adhering to industry-accepted best practices.
  2. Data Ingestion: Create ingestion pipelines from various sources, including relational databases, APIs, cloud storage, and flat files into Snowflake.
  3. Data Modelling and Transformation: Design and implement data modelling and transformation logic to support layered architecture (staging, intermediate, and mart layers or medallion architecture) for reliable and reusable data assets.
  4. Workflow Orchestration: Utilize tools like Airflow, dbt Cloud, or Azure Data Factory to schedule and monitor data workflows.
  5. Best Practices and Standards: Develop modular SQL code, perform testing, documentation, and version control using Git, while applying dbt best practices.
  6. Performance Optimization: Optimize pipeline performance through clustering, query profiling, materialization, partitioning, and efficient SQL design.
  7. Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and architects to understand requirements and deliver clean, validated datasets.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in data engineering roles, with hands-on experience in Snowflake and dbt.
  • Expert-level SQL skills and strong understanding of ELT principles, ELT patterns, and data modelling (Kimball/Dimensional preferred).
  • Familiarity with data quality and validation techniques, Git, CI/CD, and deployment workflows in a team setting.
  • Experience with orchestrating workflows using tools like dbt Cloud, Airflow, or Azure Data Factory.
